CARES Act Reporting for HEERF II & III (ARP) for 01/01/22 to 03/31/22:

• For this round of funding, students did not have to be eligible for Title IV aid to receive assistance.  CWC allocated this round of funding based on a few things:  A student had to be enrolled in at least 1 credit and a formula was utilized that based their award on their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and greatest unmet need.  There were three tiers of funding, $1,250, $1,000, and $500.

• Emergency financial aid grants can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. A student does not have to be eligible for Title IV aid to receive this assistance. CWC allocated this funding based on a few things: A student had to be enrolled for at least 3 credits and the Expected Family Contribution. If the EFC was 0, they received $1,000, between 1-1999, they received $700, between 2000-5999, they received $500 and between 6000-9999, they received $350. EFC of $10,000 and above did not receive an allocation.

The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

CWC created an application for students to request CARES Act aid. It was distributed to students deemed likely to be eligible according to the U.S. Department of Education guidance.  In addition to name, student ID, and contact information, the form asked students to confirm their need was related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19 (technology, transportation, internet, etc.)  Applicants provided a brief description of their circumstances and details about their expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19.

• Information was conveyed to students via email about the allocation process.  Also, information was conveyed that the funds would be distributed through the same channels as their federal financial aid, and the allocation they were to receive was based on their EFC and unmet need.
